Please note that I will probably move this board to phpBB v3.

I will have to make an offline conversion of the current database, fix the inadequate captcha (there is no point to upgrade if it's just to be flooded by spammers) and modify a few other things as well.

What to expect:
- Usernames and passwords will remain the same
- No post will be deleted
- The board design will (probably) be (a lot) different
- Thread icons will be back
- The board may or may not go offline for several hours, maybe up to a day if I screw things up badly

And you'll be able to add friends and foes, use quick reply, and all those other fancy features that I hardly ever use. Well, probably not. I'm getting a lot confused between the versions, perhaps?[/list]

You know me, I have been with you from the start. I trust you with the change. Just let me bring my old recliner and set it in front of the TV and I'll be happy.

Okay, the new board is now functional. A few things need to be fixed and set up properly (ex: the search function doesn't work; I will have to build an index for that and we are stuck with the default smileys for now... If these are the only problems, then it's not bad at all).

On the unexpected side, the conversion took longer than I thought; an hours offline data crunching and several hours to recreate the database on the server (I was allowed 75,000 queries per hours and I had to jam 650,000 of them, the whole thing was painfully slow (was done overnight)).

Also, I think 4-5 posts got trapped on the old board so I have manually reposted them. So in the end, everything seems to work quite well so everyone is encouraged to take a look at the new control panel and at the other themes available.

Hey, its not too bad... But im curious, what actually changes when you upgrade to this version? Does anything change dramatically other than the look?

Well, for starters I have a harder time telling which forums have new posts, but other than that, lookin' good.

@Blue Tiger: The way the board works is remained pretty much the same but there is a lot more options in this version; such as allowing people to recast their vote in poll, the ability to locking individual post and put a time limit on sticky topic and really detailed permissions (up to the point of being able to allow a user to ignore the post flood limit). There is also the fact that most of the board modifications I made on v2 are has now their equivalent in v3, so it make upgrade easier (as I don't have to restore the modified code each time I update the board). On the other hand, it's now a BBcode only board (html will not work anymore).

@Falconer: I will see what I can do for this.
