What sound(s) would a dragon make?

Post by vampirehunter42 »

This will be a fun one. ;)

First remember to forget the sounds from movies and things like that.

Ok, I have been reading up on giraffes and the "sounds" they make. Seeing they are long necked creatures, and most dragon descriptions are of long necked creatures.

A giraffe is on the whole mute, and the only hearable sounds it makes are short grunts. But it does make ultrasound like noise made by most large animals. Or maybe just a hiss sound like crocodiles and alligators.

So would that be the sound of dragons? Due to the size, people believe, they are.

Oddly enough, I always had it in my head that hatchlings would sound like baby crocodiles.

... A sound I can make as well
The skeletons are playing a jig for you ...
... let's give 'em a merry dance

i think dragons are highly intelligent and would make different sound based on their emotions and what they are trying to communicate.

For example, horses donot just whinny when they want to communicate, they will "blow their nostrils" when they are scared and make the so called "sneezing noise when they are frustrated

I think that dragons will be able to make a kind of electric noise, I dunno I think they'd be able to make a lot of different noises, grunts, screech, scream, roar, hiss, neigh, snort, click... etc

welll,a dragons roar would much be like large dinosaurs(small dinosaurs for small dragons). But from what i read I believe dragons were somewhat like parrots and as babies pick up words. It is said that dragons have there own script and have taste for riddles,so they should be able to fully speak

I dont think they would be able to talk very easily if they could at all. Human words wouldnt work with the type of maw the more common dragons have. They dont have as...moveable, couldnt think of a good word, lips as humans do and wouldnt be physically able to make some of the words.

I agree that they would make snuffling, snorts, hisses. Sounds like a crododile possibly. Depending on the type of dagon, they could be anywhere from mute, or only simple sounds to fluent with their own dialect or very vocal in more animal type sounds. I think the long neck would mainly only change the sounds on where the voice box would be located.

In Chinese folklores, the voice of dragons usually very like dolphins' sound.
