But can you touch em, or take a sample from them? Or would you be like a ghost, and pass straight through them?

Re: Time Travel!
Man, I've debated for days on end the effects and essence of time travel.
It's so fun to do.
It's so fun to do.

That would be basically sending energy into the past, much easier than sending matter.

The trouble would be how to retain a stable form... it would necessitate maintaining the bridge continuously rather than for a moment, which negates any power saving, I think.

As I've said to Falconer, there are an infinite number of things you can do in the past without causing a paradox. Therefore, the chances of causing a paradox are 1/infinity, or 0.
That was the conclusion I came to from attemting to avoid inconsistencies between quantum mechanics and the Novikov principle. Importantly, the Novikov principle doesn't prevent peoples lives from being saved.

Hey, anyone really interested in some time travel ideas, you have to see the film De JaVu, it deals with a lot of interesting ideas and issues, not to mention that the film is pretty action packed anyway. Its one of those films where it wrecks your head trying to get whats going on then all the pieces fit together at the end.
The fact that the main character goes back in time to save the girl, but in doing so he must die himself, is interesting, but then his previous self is still alive, and well, its really confusing but In the end they do actualy manage to change the past and therefore the future....

I've got the film De JaVu. I got it for Christmas. I just haven't watched it yet.

Ah, Timeline, one of the few detailed explanations of time travel that I've seen yet.

Re: Time Travel!
There's only two I can think of, the original one that keeps very well to Wells' book, and the newer one that keeps pretty well to the book but is off enough that they actually mention the book in the movie.
Which I thought was a stroke of genius.

Re: Time Travel!
I hate to bring this thread back up.
In H.P. Lovecraft's 'The Shadow Our of Time' there is a greater race that is able to project their minds into others from different times, and take over the other body. And send the other's mind back to its body. This is a good one due to both time and space mean nothing in the switch.

And because cognizance isn't really a measurable quality. Theoretically, it could be possible to send back a mind without needing a continuous link.
