Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Dragonology spread disinformation, and decieved many. Agreed?

Ernest Drake's book? It was helpful, but contained a lot of conjecture.

The trouble is the amount of people taking it at face value, and forgetting it's all conjecture.

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Well, I wouldnt say it completely ruined it. They made the study a little fun, mainly for children Id say. It would get younger people into the subject and then when they are older they would be more into more realistic studies.
Some parts of the books were quite good, but then there were some *cough* Marsupial dragon*cough* that were a bit silly.
"The Book of The Dragon" by Ciruelo is a more adult and sensible draconology book, I love that book!!!

I couldn't find a single external reference to frost dragons. Does anyone else know of any?

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Please, use correct language.
I am refering to the book Dragonology, as you are likely aware. The correct term is Dracology, which I use in order for it to not be confused with the book.
Unfortunately, people actually believe the stuff in the book. There's a reason I didn't use correct language and grammer in the option for 'dragonologists' to choose, and it's to make a point.

Prejudice is such an ugly trait...DragonRider wrote:There's a reason I didn't use correct language and grammer in the option for 'dragonologists' to choose, and it's to make a point.
The reason why most people go with that book is that it is just about the only easily acessible reference out there.

Maybe we should all cowrite a book about Dragons then; we have enough infomation/speculation here, and there's a wiki to use.

What, we each take a section and do it?

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Thats an idea! But any info we each put in will have been got from an outside source. Honestly, most of us have read up on dragons from different sources and will all have our own opinions on things like dragon size/wings/type/colours/fire breath mechanism/...etc. So it would be quite difficult, and theres no one to say that each persons sources are more correct or likely than another...
My best source of draconology book is still Ciruelos: Book of the Dragon. If anyone knows of a book like that or similar, and that is not childish like Dragonology, then please tell me!

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Well, it would sort of be wikifying certain threads here, such as 'Trying to clear up dragon breath'. The section on dragonfire would contain the different methods it could occur by and examine the arguments for each.
Dracology at the moment is just educated speculation anyway.

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Just going to point out some things
1) Does any one know a publisher
2) where would the money for this go since it would require us giving up personal information on the web to get the money at all
3) this book would probably be huge and text book shaped which no one except dragon enthusiests(sp?) would buy
Unless we are just talking and not planning then ignore this post

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
Alternatively, we can just flesh out the Dragnix wiki, so everythings open source.
It wouldn't have to be thick and a big giant textbook. There probably isn't enough information around to fill one.
The money... are you talking expenses or income?

I have no idea, I can't see this really incurring any expenses unless he thinks we're going to fly out to the European mainland, which I don't see happening any time soon.

Well, a few of us are in the UK; in fact, the population of Dragnix is mainly in the UK and US. The UK has plenty of ledgends to keep me occupied, no need to cross the channel.

dragonmaster: the above two posts are spam, I don't know if they are mistakes or what. Try not to do posts like that too often.

Re: Dragonology ruined Dracology!
kk! Those last 2 were mistakes that I could not delete. Post 1 was about how dragonology (fake study of dragons) beet (in a fake studdy witch tricked half the world) dracology (real study of dragons)! then I seen the idea about making a book (this is were post 2 comes in). I tryed to give ideas on how the book should be made to beet dragonology (frome E. drake) only to realize the dates. I tryed to look for a delete button but could not see 1 so I tryed the next thing erase and hoped it would delete. It wouldnt so I had no choise but to put a letter on and hoped no1 will notice! (did I spell it right lol)
srry about the confusion!
