Being new
Reading the posts here I realize that most of the people her is sworn elders that either was or has been here for decades. I don't know anyone here, and discovered this place by pure chance. In short, I don't feel welcome here.
The fact that I suffer from Asperger syndrome (A branch of autism that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interactions) does not help. Nor is my apparent mild phobia of forums (irrational fear is irrational).

Re: Being new
Luckily we are a fairly small friendly forum. So a good one to start finding the limit of the phobia. Just stick with us. While you don't have to be an everyday poster, just throwing in your thoughts from time to time is good enough.

Re: Being new
Very few people are old here (looks at vamp) ... however not everyone here on Dragnix THAT old... I'm one of the top posters and I joined dragnix in sep,2009… FDI joined about a month after… so we’ve actually been in Dragnix for about a year and a quarter… We’re still pretty new compared to some of the older members (looks at vamp)… and sure there were some times when I felt left out and felt as though I didn’t fit in, I bet FDI felt the same way at times… so yah, we still stayed and being on the site felt easier for me.
I’m not telling you to stay but I am telling you that if you left because of a simple reason like “I feel as though I don’t fit in” then you’ll never learn how to fit in and you’ll regret it… so I hope that you’ll take these words and stay for some time… and if you have any questions you can ask anybody here and they'll help you without second thoughts.
I hereby welcome you to Dragnix!!!!

Re: Being new
vampy, I do believe Drakel is trying to call you old. tee hee hee
welcome friend! it's a pleasure to meet you!
the great thing about the internet is that you never have to look anyone in the eye, makes it easier to deal with people when you can't see them
just pretend you are talking to a buch of old friends you've known forever.

Re: Being new
I agree with drakel about everyone feeling out of place in the beginning. I remember being told off for resurrecting a thread of conversation, good times. Any way the first few months are learning experiences for everyone so do not feel to bad, and remember that we are all pleased to have you here.
WELCOME!

Re: Being new
And Chalgrish used to yell at me nonstop.
Actually, he did that even when I wasn't new. Actually, he did that to everyone.
Nowadays, there are not too many who yell at new members though, so do not feel nervous.

Sadly I am the oldest active member both in board and real life.

Re: Being new
It is strange how, that no matter how hard I try, I just can't convince my subconscious that forums is nothing to be afraid of. But when someone else makes a point it wastes no time on rewiring the functions of my brain.
If that last sentence sounded a bit weird, it seams like I can't get rid of my phobia, but reading your responses somehow does. While I'm not completely rid of anxiety it's much better now.

Re: Being new
Well this is a nice little forum to hopefully help you get over that fear. Not too much traffic, but a good enough group of consistently posting people, which might hopefully help you acclimate to the world of forum posting. :>

Hey Sholl, welcome to the boards.
I want to welcome you personally. I have been on the boards for a very long time, and this place is very warm and inviting. If you ever have any questions or just want someone to talk to, please do not hesitate to message me or post in the Tavern. I would be glad to have you aboard.

Oh, I've been here a while as well. Just under a different name.
I think it was Sivert3 who had difficulties with being a new member.
