Jurassic World, yay or nay?

Post by Falconer »

I get it hasn't been released yet, but based on the trailers we can (sort of) get an idea of the general theme.

Dinosaur park is doing great, but starting to lose steam, so the park manager (CEO, whatever) decides they should just "Create" a new dinosaur by stringing together DNA from some other dinos. This one turns out to be a wild card, seems to display a measure of influence over the other dinos' actions, and proceeds to smash the s*** out of the park.

How does everyone think this compares to the original movie? The books?

So I just watched the movie. Not going to spoil too much, but they touch on the concept that was mentioned in the first book about how the animals aren't real dinosaurs, they're just biologically manufactured park attractions that LOOK like dinosaurs.

I'd say with regards to capturing the essence of what Michael Crichton's books were trying to say, Jurassic World did not match the first movie, but definitely beat the third and (maybe) the second.

Well, I enjoyed it. Even if the plot was driven by idiots, such as not telling them what was in the dino, or not checking where it was before entering it's enclosure...

I went into the movie expecting to be disappointed. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I need to go back and rewatch the others, but I definitely think it was the most enjoyable of the sequels (nothing will ever live up to the original).
