In fact it is amazing how many mythic creatures may have been created by finding the bones of past animals. Even the mythic heroes were thought to be giants, and stories of finding large bones who they thought were the great heroes from the past.

And mammoth skulls were mistaken for cyclops. The Greeks thought that the hole where the trunk was was actually an eye socket of a giant one eyed man. lol

i was reading a worldmythology book, and the cyclops was actually real. they were the sons of mother earth and her son and husband uranus. I know, lol funny name.
... and yes, mother earth married her son. disgusting, but true.
i think that story is from the greek mythology section of the book calle world mythology (third edition)

Perhaps dragons are so old that their bones are deeper than the dinosaur bones the human paleontologists are currently finding.
But I am sceptical about the existance of humans;those skeletons they find after the rain has washed the mud away could just be..mutant monkeys or something.. >.>

Uranus was the greek sky god, originally spelled ouranos. And he was not the son of the Earth goddess. He was her husband, and their son was Chronos, god of time. HIS son was Zeus, and the rest follows like mercury on a great....big...sloping.....THING.
