As for the topic:
My answer is pretty much useless, because I agree with everything that people said about all the different types of dragons. I'd name 'em again, but I'm too lazy.
I am learning about my dragon form more and more as life goes on and I know that I have four legs, so I say they can.
Hope I answered you post right.

'giant venemous snake'. NO. You got that from Rowling, yes? According to history (dragon legends) the Basilisk is the original form of the Cockatrice. The Basilisk is a small wyvern, but was still VERY deadly.
Though I suppose this is argueable, because I HAVE heard a legend involving a giant, deadly snake called a 'basilisk'.
Actually, in the stories I've read a basilisk is a giant chicken with a spiked reptilian tail and scale coverd neck and legs, plus the legs are capable of reaching high speeds.

No, that's the Cockatrice, which evolved from the basilisk.
