A new idea: Trialing Warfare

"HALT!!" The order echoed across the field as the General stood in front of the legion of men that stood to strict attention in front of him.

This is a new type of RP idea I have been thinking about (sorry if you know others who have done this before but as far as i am concerned I came up with it) This was probably born out of playing computer games too much but here goes:

"As you all know the enemy are encroaching rapidly." The servicemen nodded as the General paced in front of them. "The time calls for a new approach. 7 of you are being promoted, it is mandatory and not an option.
"2 of you will be placed second below me and help to control the main push. The rest of you will take teams of 4-6 men and attempt to flank the main force of the enemy."

Ok as stated I need 7 men to play the promotees. I will be playing the General. Basically what this RP will do is ask you to be able to write for a team of 4-6 players rather than just the one though the focus will be on your leader (main char). I don't know how well this will work but if it doesn't then we will break back down to playing the individual chars.

"Your men will follow you to the pits and back if need be." He glared at the assembled men untill they shuffled and shifted their gaze. "I will keep in contact with you via these mirror~gems" He held a red object in the air which glinted "For preference you may choose the colour of your gem" He winked at the nearest soldier who grinned nervously.

Sorry for switching between story and OOC mode but I like to get a feel for the chars and for as much to be RPing as possible.
As stated you will be able to contact me and the other chars via gem (they project a small image of the char who is contacting you and the surrounding area) though you may also team up with others as well. you may disobey me if you wish but I'd prefer that everyone didn't turn evil ok?
If you really don't want to play a leader then you may just join a players team.

Basic Info:
Era: Medievaly kind of Era
Magic: small amount but nothing world-changing
Enemies: Mostly human but with a few monsters thrown in for variety
Natives: Human and wild animals (mostly canine)

Character Specs:
This will be complicated but initially all I want is your Main Char
Character sheet is unspecified but include what you think is neccessary (inc gem colour ;) ). If additional info is needed I will ask. The teams will either be done by me or by individual players (we'll take a vote later). Characters should be human or humanoid (no dragons I'm afraid though halfs are acceptable provided they are more human in appearance)

:idea: I like my RPs to be as user friendly as possible and to this end any suggestions, be it for minor plotlines or badguys, PM me and I'll consider them. If they are practically possible I will try to incorporate them into the RP story.

The General's Char sheet will come soon.

Name: Darien Juranas

Pre-war Occupation: Worked in counter-espionage as a spy and assasin.

Wartime Rank: Second Lieutenant

Combat Experience/Completed Misions: Operation Blackbuck, helped defend the city Beth-El.

Personality: Quiet, withdrawn, years of work as a spy have engrained in Darien a sense of distrust for anyone and everyone except his pet.

Pet: A squirrel named Stirrup. Granted intelligence by a mage in reward for chewing off his bonds while held captive, Stirrp proceded to wast it with Darien. Only Darien can understand his chirping, chattering speech.

Weapons: Pair of dirks, five throwing knives, and a longsword with a cheap glass pommel stone.

Armor: An enchanted tunic and cloak that change color to camoflauge him no matter what his surroundings.

Bio: An agile warrior with black hair and gray eyes, Darien does best when the odds are against him. He is skilled in unarmed combat and espionage, but has little knowledge of magic. He was brought up by a farmer and lived a mundane and boring life until he became a spy.

Gem Colour: Black

So if we are playing our teams, I think we should choose them ourselves.

Can I have a bit more background on the char? Explanation of Operation Blackbuck etc. Just to add a bit of depth.

Name: Ashlan

Pre-occupation: Worked undercover as a seamstress while gaining information as a spy

Bio: Was trained since she was young as a fighter and doesnt really know anything else. the closest she got to a real life was when she went undercover for 3 years. knows enough magic to get by, but mostly depends on her surroundings and skill.

Gem Colour: Pale greenish blue.

Sounds nice, I will try.

Name: Gor'tuk (pronounced gore took)

Pre-war occupation: Not being an overly intelligent person he did whatever manual labor he could get. He was freguently imprisoned for drunken brawling.

Bio: Not a smart person but incredibly strong, he makes an amazing shock trooper. He is a loyal person and will do as he is told by whoever is in charge of him at the time. Stands 6'8" weighs 312 lbs. Blonder/red hair with blue/green eyes. Skilled in brutal toe to toe combat and excells with large heave axes but is good with just about any weapon excluding bows and any other long range weapon.

Magic: None, though when he tastes blood he goes into something of a blood rage where he seems to grow a fair bit stronger and has been known snap swords with his hands.

Gem: Ruby red.

Ok good both accepted. I might lower the limit to five if noone else signs up fairly soon and let people join later so as to get the RP started as soon as possible.

Blackbuck was a failed attempt several years back to infiltrate a rebel stronghold. Darien and two others were stranded inside, and had to fight their way out. Only he survived.

Name: Terashim (or Terash)

Pre War Occupation: He worked as an information trader. Bits of info there, other bits there, you know the stuff. If you want to ruin your rivals rep, Terash knows all the details about their life.

Bio: Very Intelligent (has to be to trade in info). Has good hearing and eyesight and can make himself unnoticed to listen in on conversations. Unusual eyes; Green fading to brown to a black iris. Long dark hair.

Magic: His ability to slip by unnoticed and increased senses are partly to do with magic. His mother was a half-elf, lsightly more human in appearence, that led to accusations of being a witch. Terashim inherited mostly elf DNA from his mother, so he's more of a half elf than a quarter elf. His mother nearly got killed by those dang superstitius idiots, and would have if Terashim hadn't already known what they were conspiring.

Pet: An extremaly intelligent sparrowhawk that scouts out places for him. He won it in a rigged bet. It was the other person who rigged it so he decided to play a little trick on the cheater and used the rig to win.

Gem: Clear with a slight blue tint.



Can my chars scout out the area and relay the info back?

Ok accepted. And I know I keep sying this but I will post the char sheet soon so we can start, sorry for delays but RL been beating me up a bit lately so delays have been put on all web-based things. But later tonight or tomorrow I promise.

Thank you. And yes you misspelled it.

Name: Thrace Archibald Perrew

Rank: General (evidently)

Personality: Quite strict and rough if you get on the wrong side of him (which is fairly easy) but usually amicable and friendly. will suck up to superiors if absolutley neccesary but doesn't like to.

Magic: Not much except a mental connection to all the gems allowing the contact via his own. Can set whatever weapon he is holding on fire (obviously not a good idea with wooden bows etc)

Pet: A wolf. Lean and hungry he keeps it by his side at all times.

Attire: A brown uniform. Several medals adorn the pocket but asde from a jet-black belt with his scabbard on it is plain.

Weapons: A short sword, three throwing knives and a blowpipe recovered from a campaign in the jungle regions.

Gem: Orange with a purple splash mark across the top

Ok lets get this started. I'm finally back hopefully for good so all post a sheet with three team members (name, weaponry, very basic stats).

Team 1 Roster

Name: Zalenka
Role: Sabatoge, espionage, medic, mage.
Unique: Can create anything out of anything, expert craftsman and inventor.
Weapon: Long oak staff with a glowing green orb that can be shortened into a wand-sized weapon for storage.

Name: Karina
Role: Hand to hand specialist.
Unique: DNA mutation grants up to 2x reaction speed.
Weapon: Pair of curved short swords, katana, dagger.

Name: Uruk
Role: Token big guy
Unique: Weighs in at over 500 pounds of muscle and bone, but still agile.
Weapon: Two-handed battleaxe, spear, fists.

Role: the guy who talks his way through anything
The little thing that makes him special: as said above he can talk his way through anything. that's the only reason he wasnt killed when he broke into a random seam shop one day and found out hte seamstress was a spy..
Weapon: A set of daggers he keeps hidden in his boots

Name: Sylbia
Role: Mage
The little thing that makes her special: can build up electrical charges in an area until....BOOM!
Weapon: obviously magic. and a staff she keeps with her topped with a sharp pointy crystal that she's not sure of what it does (besides the obvious impailing)

Name: NOrton
Role: scary big guy
the little thing that makes him special: he doesnt talk, but because of his size he can frighten anyone into submission. the only person who has heard him say anything is Ashland and she's not saying anything about it.
Weapon: a broad sword strapped to his back, and his obvious size

Name: Screech
Role: lookout
The little thing that makes him special: He's a hawk
Weapon: his beak and talons
History: the team came across him one day with a wounded wing. THey had planned on setting his wing and letting him go, but Screech kept following them around, so he's become an honorary member of the team and has helped them on manu occasions.
