Here is some of my work. I hope you enjoy.
The Child's Legend
The battle raged around the boy,
Def to the rage, blind to the pain,
His sword no more a toy;
Nothing to lose, nothing to gain.
Orphaned when he was born,
Life unwanted, life abandoned,
Family gone, heart long torn,
Anger, rage that none can fathom.
Death looming so close by,
The boy fights to save the day,
Oily dark clouds cover the sky,
Men lost to the violent fray.
Rain pelts flesh and armor,
Wet blood stains the boy’s clothes,
Up from the chains looks the martyr,
Mud coats the deadly foes.
Boy sees the hero from the past,
Martyr looks to see the child,
Dark warrior closes fast,
Boy’s attacks raging, swings wild.
Martyr shouts at bravery,
Child reclaims confidence,
Warrior calls in cavalry,
Warrior’s death unknown since.
Child draws close to hero,
Sword outstretched,
Boy falls endlessly,
Spear through chest.
Martyr weeps, child lost,
Sorrow to sadness to rage,
Hero’s tears fall to the new frost,
Strength enough, broken chains.
Hero, martyr no more,
Takes up fallen child’s sword,
Fights for bravery, fights a war,
Fights with many, fights for Lord,
Lost boy gives hero strength,
Strength enough to win the day,
Fighting through enemy ranks,
Hero enters the fray.
Many fall to Hero’s blade,
Many more turn to run,
Fury unleashed, anger unchained,
Hero stands in reborn sun.
Terror fills evil hearts,
Hero moves with deadly grace,
Dark ranks turn and part,
Dark Lord enters in pace.
Beautiful battle ensues,
A dangerous dance of death,
Fighting fast, fighting true,
Fighting to prevent the end.
Hero comes in fast,
Dark Lord drops his blade,
War ended with a single strike,
Child’s noble sacrifice saved.
Fact to legend to myth,
Child lives on,
Blade lost in history’s mist,
Story told by Hero anon.
And...
Fireflies
If dreams were fireflies,
You would be as bright as Time’s Square,
If dreams were fireflies,
The night sky would be as bright as day.
If dreams were fireflies,
The days would be brighter,
If dreams were fireflies,
Life would be more enjoyable,
If dreams were fireflies,
The grandest sights would be grander,
If dreams were fireflies,
We could watch greatness unfold in a jar,
If dreams were fireflies,
I wouldn’t need to dream,
If dreams were fireflies,
I’d be with you.
And before you ask, I did not write Fireflies for anyone in particular. I write just to write.
I have wrote another major poem, Shadows, but it is very lengthy.

I like the way you told a story with the first one.
I had some poems I'd done at school, but I've misplaced the printouts. I'll get thewm on a floppy or something after the half term.

Both those peoms are really beautifull. I loved the first one, it was sad but I liked how it told an epic like story... You have a talent for writing poems, ive never really tried to write any, though I love reading them and understanding them, Ive been wanting to write a poem about the stars for ages, but I need to feel inspired before I can write... same with my drawings...

I can write Poems when I'm inspired to, and they usually come in 'clumps'. I'll write several at a time, and then no more for a while.

Sooner or later I'll get around to writing some more for you guys. I might also post Shadows. And I'm glad you liked them.

Okay, bear with me, this is going to be lengthy. But please enjoy Shadows.
I'll post a character and item referance guide later.
Part 1
At world's end it starts,
Running dark and true,
Life's end of heart,
Hate's life born anew.
Enter the darkness,
And shadows reach out,
Run if heartless,
Seeds plant endless doubt.
From shadows within,
Rises the Kreya,
The dark seven,
Start of the dark fray.
The first of seven,
Niloki steals joy,
Falls from Heaven,
His life, but a ploy.
Kreya number two,
Minon, Death's jester,
Pain of the few,
Dark disease festers.
And the third and fourth,
Missa, lifeless one,
And Nall brought forth
Life's dark closing fun.
The deadliest fifth,
Kep, the Reaper King,
Creates dark rifts,
Half die to his ring.
Rise, the insane sixth,
Nameless, shadows fall,
Spoken in myth,
Dead come to his call.
Enter the final,
Callion, the birth,
Mankind's trial,
Beginning with Earth.
Upon one man rests
The fate of all life,
Darkest of tests,
To take his own life.
But, Shadows can die,
For two others lived,
Shadows will die,
For two mortals lived.
Israfel did ride,
And with him Aaraaf,
Rode far and wide,
Two mortals set off.
Riding to find myth,
To find weapon dark,
Dark as abyss,
Under mountains stark.
Through forest and field,
And through darkest night,
Death if they yield,
On to find the fight.
Part 2
After many days
They found what they sought
Without sun’s rays,
Weapon, evil wrought.
Unholy saber,
With dark blade of night,
Devil’s favor,
To get blade of might.
To seek life in Hell,
‘Twas the evil test,
Devil could tell,
None lived where he rest.
But wise young Aaraaf,
Had the answer found,
For were they not
Live and underground?
And scream the Devil did,
He had lost his blade,
“Leave now,” he bid,
“And damn that dark blade.”
And the Shadow sword
Gained a new wielder,
Not a dark lord,
But two mortal hunters.
Into sun, the two rode,
Now toward evil,
To slay Laed’s Load.
Far, still to travel.
Through a rift of Kep
They ride, bodies piled
Where man won’t step,
Dead bodies piled high.
After many days
Riding past dead walls
Two reached wide fields,
Find blood waterfalls.
And onwards they ride;
Under blood red sun,
And pitch black sky,
Final bell yet rung.
In world’s dark castle
The Kreya await,
Life’s dark hassle.
Kep’s lust unsated.
Callion’s duty
Yet to be fulfilled,
World of beauty
Made of last man’s blood.
Israfel rides fast,
Aaraaf at his side.
The price paid last
Will be Kreya’s pride.
Part 3
Shadows await death
To fall on trial.
New world of death
Made if man should die.
But a shard of hope
Remains, for two ride
Across Maeltrope’s
Endless desert sands.
Bloody sun gives way
To dark, sightless moon.
Heat turns to chill,
And twin riders move.
A worldwide silence
Fills the midnight air,
The only thing heard,
Horses moving hooves.
At desert’s far end,
Great beast lies in wait,
Challenge to pass
All who seek dark gate.
Twin riders enter
Valley of the beast,
“Riddle to pass,
Pass to live,” says beast.
“What riddle have you?”
Israfel challenged.
Drawing his blade,
“Alone we’ve managed.”
“Shadows rise in lands
Far off to the east.
Answer me now!
What name castle holds?”
“Simple,” Aaraaf said
With great confidence,
“’Tis a nameless
Place of darkened stone.”
“Wrong,” the beast exclaimed.
“Hadren’s Keep, the name!”
Down beast’s maw came,
Devour two men.
Up came darkened blade,
Nihilus by name,
Into beast’s skull,
And out the far side.
Down fell the great beast,
Into Death’s embrace
Never to rise,
Never to challenge.
Part 4
Riding on again,
Israfel leading,
Traveling fast,
Nihilus on back.
Through cavern, and wood,
Over mountains tall,
Past sheer cliff face.
Under moon’s shadow.
In Hadren’s dark Keep,
Kreya are restless.
Last man, Treya,
Hasn’t breathed his last.
“Lift the blade, mortal!”
Callion shouted,
“Plunge it into
Your unholy heart.”
“Unholy to whom?”
Treya asked the shade,
“To man, life’s gift
‘Tis to be cherished.”
“Then let us end it,”
Kep said to brothers.
“Mortals have died,
What is another?”
“’Tis not our duty,
Nor is it our test,”
Callion said,
“To end last man’s life,”
“Our role ends only
With last suicide.
If we end him,
We will be trapped here.”
“Damn the Fates to Hell,”
Nall yelled aloud,
“Why did they choose
This troublesome man?”
“We can not rely
On mortal gods!”
Niloki said,
“Yes! They exiled us!”
“Then we must await
Mortal’s destined choice.
Will life be born?
Or will Man gain voice?”
Part 5
Distant, dark trees rise,
As twin riders move,
Traveling east;
Grass flat under hoof.
Riding fast toward
Lathaniel’s Forest.
Blood covered wood,
Trees, body coated.
Past giant spiders
They roam, through what was
Once holy land,
And further to ride.
And onward toward
The dark Shadow Lands
Near the world’s end,
Between unknown lands.
Silence travels with,
No man with to speak,
Save each other.
Laed’s fate nears its peak.
In Hell’s dark corner,
Lies a single man,
Shunned from the light,
Banished from surface.
Drall is the man’s name,
Banished for giving
Kreya the key
To demolish Laed.
The end of the world
Blamed upon a man,
A single man.
Mankind’s corruption.
Thus their destruction,
Drall knew this problem.
Knew his trouble,
Eternal torment.
For he gave away
Humanity’s last
God given days
Inhumanly fast.
Part 6
Life passing quickly
For those with nothing
Treya, Aaraaf,
Israfel, and Drall.
Drall living in Hell,
Foolishly weeping
At what he caused.
Humanity’s dark plight.
Israfel on horse,
Aaraaf not far,
Traveling long
To prevent Laed’s end.
Treya in east lands.
Holding world’s fate
Upon his life.
Kreya watch and wait.
Animals aside,
World is void of life,
Save these four,
And immortals.
Twin riders, with blade,
Seek to end shadows
That bring world’s end.
And recreate man.
Through Hell and desert,
Through forest and field,
They ride onward.
Under moon and sun.
Kreya’s evil test
Placed on Treya’s chest
End his own life
And end mankind’s world
In Hell, Drall despairs
His torment begins.
Bringing world’s end
Before Judgment Day
Part 7
Darkness is rising
On the horizon.
Forest to west
Hadren’s Keep awaits.
Twin riders draw near
After many years.
Shadows waiting
For Treya’s long fall,
Knowing not of fear,
Kreya unaware,
That death draws near,
Life’s dark strands lay bare.
Scorched fields to the west,
Blackened long ago,
Hadren’s Keep rests
Deep in those foul planes.
Treya deep in thought,
Senses more mortals,
Does not speak though,
Does not tell Kreya.
Treya grabs dagger.
“What a wondrous blade,”
He says, eyes wide,
“Dyed a bloody shade.”
“Where, may I inquire,
Did you obtain it?”
Showing desire
Unlike any seen.
“We found it, mortal,
On the Moon’s shadow.”
Kreya replied,
“Where no man may go.”
Part 8
On the Shadowed Planes,
Israfel rides fast,
Aaraaf nearby.
.Viewing things long past.
Phantoms rise from death.
Showing things that are
Impossible
To any mortal man.
Showing those who died
And were dear to hearts
Still live and well.
And how those hearts wept.
Cherished souls held here
In this wretched place
Where nothing sleeps
And Time seems to freeze.
Thus the Shadow Lands
Claim all its victims
With dark phantoms
That play on man’s heart.
But not all lures trap,
As Aaraaf found out
When a phantom
Rose with a large shield.
Aaraaf grabbed the shield
As he past the ghost.
Viewing his prize
With mounting interest
Part 9
Shield and sword unite
After countless years.
And past rewrites
As it did before.
Forged to fight darkness,
Forged in dark blood,
Shadow’s dark blood,
Black instruments forged.
Nihilus the sword
And Rafil the shield,
Gleam in moonlight.
Ready for their goal.
Destined for this act,
Destined for murder.
Created for
A shadow slaughter.
In ancient kingdom
Hammer hit anvil
Molding hot steel
Creating cold death.
Steam rose from shadows,
Steel hit shadow blood
Blade dyed pitch black.
Left to rest and wait.
Part 10
Twin riders reach gate
To finish fate’s choice.
Aaraaf with shield,
Israfel with sword.
Kreya sense life’s pulse
As mortals enter
Their dark domain.
The shadow battle.
Mortals feel death near
As they walk the halls.
Sorrow fills hearts
As Niloki nears.
Shadow of Sorrow
Recognizes sword
And shadow shield.
Knows his life is gone.
Nihilus revels
As Shadow blood runs
Down its dark blade
And Niloki falls
Part 11
And four more did fall
To the deadly bite
Of Nihilus,
Its blade shining black.
Through Minon, Missa
Nall, and the Nameless,
Nihilus went,
As Rafil protects,
Treya knows again
The sweet taste of joy
As Aaraaf steps
Into the throne room.
Israfel with blade
Looks upon the last
Two dark shadows
And then at Treya.
Part 12
Kep rose from his seat
Flaming blade in hand,
Moving toward
Mortal men, eyes aflame.
Dark battle ensued
As Callion moved
Towards Treya,
But halts suddenly.
Dagger made for death,
Made for man’s trial,
Sinks into chest
Then Callion falls.
Part 13
Nihilus slides through
Kep’s chest easily,
But Kep’s ring falls
Onto Israfel’s flesh.
With his final breath
Callion saw light,
And replenished
Laed’s tainted beauty.
Part 14
Thus Kreya’s tale told,
Passed from me to you,
And thus unfolds,
Past’s dark story true.

Okay, If you haven't noticed, during
Shadows the rhyming scheme fades out as desperation, fear, and sorrow begin to rise.
Also, each section is one stanza shorter than the previous. This in particular, gave me problems. I designed the poem like this, and bending my talents to fit that particular pattern was stressful. I had to cut
way to many stanzas that were simply amazing, which is unfortunate.
(Sooner or later I might post them.)
Then there's the ending... (DON'T READ PAST THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE ENDING YET!!!!)... when Kep's Ring falls on Israfel's flesh. This needs clarrified. At the start, when it's listing off the Kreya, it says that "Half die to his ring." That isn't metaphoricly speaking. Kep's ring is cursed, and when it touched Israfel, Israfel died.

I didn't notice the structure of the Epic, or the ryming scheme fading out. That's probably because I don't spot ryming in poems anyway, unless it's used in the entire poem.
To use a Newspeak word - it's doubleplusgood. You have a talent there.

Here is my newest work.
Myself
Of kindness I know
Its seeds I do sowe.
I am strong of mind,
Which is hard to find.
I know of Time's path
And of Nature's wrath.
I am odd, unique,
And my own critique.
Very few know me
And fewer still see
The path I have tread
Or those I have led.
I am a great friend.
I defy the trends.
I alone possess
My shadow's lone test.
I am who I wish
Whether poor or rich.
None can truly clame
My powerful flame
And when my ashes
Fall as time passes,
I can only pray
I don't fade away...

It's "claim" and "sow". Other than that... this is good, a cut above the average fare.

Thanks, Falconer. Since I finished that last one, I haven't been able to find my muse again. This happens with some regularity, so I'll just have to put up with it for now.

Ok, I haven't posted any of my work here for a couple of months, but I think I could get a few more here.
These next are a little sorrowful, but I'm fine. Worry not about me.
Sleepless...
I raise my head,
In the morning.
Leaving my bed,
No more soaring.
With eyes of dread,
The sun I view.
Clouds in my head,
The day I rue.
My dreams have fled.
Wish I could sleep.
My eyes rubbed red.
Dreams I can't keep.
Fall to my bed
To lie down flat.
Relax my head
And I know that
My dreams are dead...
My Life
My life, has faded
To a shadow,
My life, has fallen
From the bright sun,
My life, is callin'
Me to come home,
My life, has prayed
For loss of pain,
My life, is afraid
That you will leave,
My life, is angry
That it cowers,
My life, is mangy
For loss of sleep,
My life, is restless
For lack of muse,
My life, is faceless
It doesn't sing,
My life, is power
For words hold strength,
My life, is wonder
Places I've been,
My life, is my life,
Who can claim it?
I have a lot more coming. I'll try to get them before Tempest moves the Arts sections here. If not, I'll just hunt this down again or hope someone Stickies it.

I guess so. I have a lot to catch up on here, so bear with me for a couple of weeks. I wnt through not only a lack of muse for a while, but also a break-up or two, so that's why some of my more recent work has a darker tint to it than some of my other stuff.
Re: My work

Here's another two
Howling
I look to the moon at night.
I look upon its gleaming face.
And much like the wolves of centuries,
I howl.
Each night, I also can hear
The dogs nearby howl all their souls
To the brilliant, silver, gleaming moon.
They howl.
And as they howl, I can hear,
Within some deeply feral place,
The moon howl in return. And the moon,
It howls.
Yet, whenever I follow
In this amazing ritual,
The moon fails to reply. And only
I howl.
But I continue trying.
I keep up the futile attempts
Always hoping, always praying for
A howl.
Why must man be favored less
Than the Lupine beings we love
And respect? Why must man never hear
The Howl?
Why must my lone call remain
Unanswered on the night’s cold air?
And now the tears fall to the frost, and
I howl.
Sorrow
In dark times, life shatters.
The heart that beats grows still.
Tear drops *pitter, patter*
Crying against his will.
What once was bright grows black.
Then the world fades to grey.
His life, luster it lacks.
Eyes won’t accept the day.
His soul is torn apart.
And despite all his might,
Even in deepest dark,
He still views a small light.

Ok, I'm being a total hypocrite and reviving a long dead topic on top of double posting... Sue me.
I just want my poems to stay in 1 topic.
With that said...
Time
I weave a tale of sorrow
I mold a story of rage
Yet all of my tomorrows
Are gone in the turn of a page.
My demons remain with me,
Within my dark, dark mind trapped.
I only want them to see
That they aren't bound by a pact.
I seek to be forgiven
For what my old past has done,
But what I want given,
Away from me it does run.
So, Night to Twilight to Day
And back to where it began,
My demons are here to stay
And I become a lonely man...
Do You Believe?
The music wove its somber song across the lute and lyre
And from the ember's fading glow steadily rose the fire.
The singer joined in right then, her voice sad and sweet.
The audience knew the tune and all took their seats.
The people grew quiet. The world seemed still.
The music flowed through all, staving their will.
The music held all in its thrall.
This for th beginning of Fall.
None dared move, few dared breath.
Animals did not flee.
A dancer joins the sad singer.
All who pass now stop and linger,
If not to see the dance, than to listen,
All beneath the silver moon's great glisten.
The dancer's dress, attached at wrists, looks like gold wings.
She moves with other worldley grace, while other sings.
Dancing angel with golden wings welcomes the day's first light
And as the music and flames fade, so does the holy night.
The music done,
The song is sung,
Everyone turns to leave.
"But... Do you still believe?"
Alone
I walk these streets alone
As I have since then...
But memories of you
Follow me like my shadow...
I miss you, I miss us...
But these streets remain empty...
I remain alone...
Each road holds pain,
Each step a memory.
Yet I keep walking,
Without you, alone.
Why was I so weak?
Why did I let you go?
I live in hope of your return,
But I know that hope is futile.
And so I walk alone...
Alone, as I have been since then...
Alone, as I have been since us...
