Post limit
So, we all know there is a limit to how fast you can post. My question is, is there some way to remove that restriction for old-time members? I mean, the limit is in place to resist spam bots, but I think a use rwith over 1200 posts to his credit is probably not a bot.

Re: Post limit
Yeah, you can really only hit it if you go back and edit your post as soon as you post it. That counts as posting, apparently.

Re: Post limit
The "flood interval" is currently set to 45 sec; you cannot post another message or edit your own post until that time has elapsed (it's a bit annoying but it prevents spambots from posting hundred of messages per seconds and flood the entire board). This limit can be removed manually for each user but I prefer to not take this approach.
I think a special group could do the trick so I have created one called "Regular users" [check the "Usergroups" in your User Control Panel (UCP)] who will not have the flood limit. With a few volunteers to act as group leaders it could be managed locally and quite efficiently. So if anyone is interested, just post something here.
Note: The role of a group leader is to act as a gatekeeper, letting the right people in and keeping the spam bots out. Practically, let's say that at the very least, "Wanderers" and "Dragon's Eggs" are not regular users.

Re: Post limit
I guess I could be a group leader. I've been here for about 6 years now (though I did dissapear from time to time).
That and my experience in managing a forum will assist. True, my forum is running an outdated form of phpBB, but it's still experience.

Re: Post limit
Okay, you are now both group leader (this way if one of you is away, there is still someone around to let people in).
It should be something relatively simple to run, in your "User Control Panel", select "Usergroups" in the options on the left. Then select "Manage groups". You should see "Leadership" for the group "Regular users".
Click Manage users and you can manually add users and approve "Pending members". I would have preferred something directly displayed on the board (something like: "Logout [ Your-name ] | 0 new messages | 1 Member approval pending) but you have to do all those steps above and I don't think there are any warning if someone is awaiting your approval so you will need to check once in a while.
For a visual summary (not really necessary but can be quick way to tell others how to join) :
To become a member and not have the flood limit
To approve new member

Re: Post limit
It doesn't seem to be working... I keep hitting the limit, despite being a member of the group.

Same here.
EDIT: In fact, I just did now, trying to post this.

Re: Post limit
Odd, I have only hit my post limit once. But I type and retype my posts. Then copy and paste to Microsoft Word to check on my spelling and stuff.

Re: Post limit
I fixed this problem. Regular users should now be able to ignore the flood limit.
It was a small mistake on my part, as it wasn't enough to assign permissions to a group, these group permissions must be assigned to the forum as well. It's a bit circular...
