Hi everyone I am Dream Lord and I am a new user on these forums. I'm 14 years old, my name is Chris and I like all fantasy things. I have liked fantasy things for a while now, I read a whole lot and I would like to do some roleplaying. I own quite a few of the Dungeons and Dragons third edition books but I have no one to play it with around me lol. I probably never would have found this site if my friend hadn't sent me the link to one of the pages. I really like dragons and the things that occupy most of my time are reading, playing video games, and talking to my friends either on the internet or on the phone. I also like to day dream, listen to music, and search for interesting quotes on the internet. Well I am mature for my age I think and one of the most intelligent students in my school. Well that's all that I can think to say.

Hullo!
Welcome to the High Council! My name is Serenity, but usually people just call me Sarina.
If your looking for people with the same interests, I must say you have come to the right place! What kind of books do you read? Do you have any favorite authors?
I also think it's great that you're into D&D. Have you ever played any Play by Post (PbP) RPG's before? If you haven't, let me tell you that knowing the basics of D&D terms and character building will really help you out.
Since we do freelance RPGing here, however, the rules and ways to play are different from D&D drastically in some ways (PbP focuses on storywriting and we don't usually use a points system of any sort such as XP or MP etc...), so you might want to read the basic rules when Tempest gets them posted up. Otherwise, there isn't a person here who's unwilling to help, so just ask!
And, to make life easier, every RPG game has a corisponding post in the OOC forum (Out of Character) with any specific rules to the thread explained.
Hope to see you around! If you need any help, let me know.
~Sarina

Hey you sound pretty much like I'd describe my self, 'cept for the age part. Based on that, we probably won't get along since, according to Mr. Owens my physics teacher, like particles repel. Naw, I'm joshing you. Feel free to poke your nose around the board and post!
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention. Myself. I'm Alorith, or that's what I'd like to be called 'cept everyone insists on WDA. Jerks. I'll get them some day. Introduction over.

Hi! I'm Elysian. I just wanted to tell you not to worry about posting or anything. If you screw up, we'll help you out. (watch out for Tourniquet aka Scott/Gabe/Christian. He's usually right...but brutal with critiques. lol )
Most of us started around your age or younger. Really age isn't what's important though. If you want to be respected...write well. That's it. We're all here to write and learn and if you do those things, you'll fit right in.
First helpful hint. Use paragraphs A LOT. It makes it much easier to read and therefore, people are more likely to read what you write. (It was my first hint too I believe
)
Welcome!

Paragraphs split up a huge wad of text into manageable bite sized chunks.
also write it in word and spell check it. then copy and paste into the forum, this way you'll be better off when it comes to some of the critisisms people throw around here...

I like most fantasy and some science fiction books. Some of my favorite authors are probably Robert Jordan, Mercedes Lackey, and the guy that writes the Sword of Truth series. I can’t remember his name at the moment.
I have never played any PbP RPG’s before, so I will probably have to try that out sometime.
Thanks for the tip about the paragraphs. I will have to remember that.
Well, I don’t write very much so I don’t know how good I am at it really. Writing isn’t one of my favorite things to do usually, although it depends on what I am writing. My evaluation of my writing skills would be that they are decent but that’s all, but I will try my best.
Well it was nice meeting you all and I will try to be on the forums at least once every few days.

Ahhh! No way! I love Terry Goodkind!!! (Sword of Truth Series)
I can read a hundred pages in his books in about two hours and then not want to put the book down, he's that good! Seriously, you've got yourself into some good fantasy there. Terry Goodkind is really an awesome writer... he puts me in complete awe with his character development....
Who's your favorite character from the series? I really like Zed, because he's one of those great "old and powerful wizard" types, and because he eats all the time, so I can relate...lol. I also like Nathan, because I get a kick out of his antics and he's a profit. But then again.... Kahlan is a great character because she represents strength in femininity, which is what I stand for. (Just ask the boyos here...lol)
*Swoons over the awesomeness of Terry Goodkind*
Well, anywho, I'm glad you’re setting yourself up with some good examples to take tips from when writing! Personally, I think people who read a lot make better writers, so I'm sure you'll do fine.
You seem like a pretty decent guy, I hope we get to work together in the RPG forum; it's always nice to have fresh blood... I mean talent around. ; )

Two words.
Run. Now.
Hehe, just kidding.
It's far too late for that now.
MUAHAAAAAAAHAHAHA!
Awhooo.
I'm Void. I'm the best damn villain ever, but you won't see much of me for a while, beacuse I'm waiting for some of the major stories to end before I make my grand return to the monitor screen.

I had so much trouble trying to understand what the hell was happening it the Pern series, than I read the first one, which cleared it up. I'm more of a Steven Brust fan (Subliminal message) mainly because of the humor in them and the slightly more realistic outlook on magic, or at least to me.

Well I guess that my favorite character would have to be Zed also, and for the same reasons too. lol I also like the Mord Sith.(I'm not sure but I think that was what they were called)
Thanks for saying that I seem like a pretty decent guy and I hope that we get to work together too.
I had checked out some of the Pern series from the library but i never got around to reading them. I will read them eventually though.

Pern is a pretty cool series. I've only read like the first three books or something though. The history stuff in the beginning does get kind of long and confusing. And though I wasn't real fond of the main character, Lessa I think her name was, I think the way Anne McCaffrey describes the bond between Dragons and their humans is very cool.
I should read the Sword of Truth series, Serenity has been bugging me to for about two years now. lol. I think I still have your copy, too, Serenity. hahaha.
Anyhow, Mercedes Lackey seems pretty good. I started to read By the Sword, and then I couldn't finish it, but I checked out some of her other books and I'm gonna try to read them soon.
Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself! I am Medea, I usually play a phoenix, and welcome to the board! I'm sure you'll add a great deal to the board. Thanks for joining, and have fun!

I read a bit of Anne Anne McCaffrey, some on my own and some for a compitition once, but I never became a real fan. I liked the first three (the ones Medea is talking about) though I think after that they all started to sound the same.
I truly do hope to see you in some of my threads though! It makes my job easier if I don't have to use the mind control device...
Lol... just kidding... maybe...
