The Knight's Horse & The Dragons

:space: Once upon a time long past,
There once was a story the bards often told
:space: Of a brave mare and her adopted dragons
Who lived in days of old.

:space: This mare's name was Adrianne
And belonged to the knight Sir Mark.
:space: They were dragon slayers, ruthless for sure,
And in the service of Old King Park.

:space: One day they went to go and find
The greatest prize: the queen of dragons.
:space: They packed weapons, clothes, and warm, sweet bread
And some water in a flagon.

:space: They searched for many days and nights
Until at last they found her.
:space: Sleeping, on a rock, in the warm spring sun,
Lay the queen of dragons: the great Emalire.

:space: Sir Mark did slay the helpless queen.
Without any mercy, but much bloodlust.
:space: But Adrianne saw something that made her buck.
She threw her knight, and crushed him to dust.

:space: The troubled mare trotted over
To the great bloodied rock, in slight fear.
:space: She looked in a crevice and confirmed what she had saw:
Three large eggs; the heirs of Emalire.

:space: That day, Adrianne's heart had changed.
She pitied the eggs, on their lonely shelf.
:space: She then decided, from then on
To raise these dragons herself.

:space: Tinel, Lasair, and Dearg they were;
The heirs of the dragon throne.
:space: Adrianne loved them, and they loved her,
For she loved them as her own.

:space: But Adrianne grew old and sick.
Her breathes were few, for her time had come.
:space: Her dragons wept great boiling tears;
They didn't want to farewell their mum.

:space: Adrianne died quite peacefully
As a friend of dragons and a mother.
:space: Her dragons mourned and wept some more.
For them, there was no other.

:space: So that is the story of Adrianne
And her scalely children bold.
:space: Their tale is one that should never
Be forgotten and left to mold.
